Foreign Bodies
in Feet
That We Meet
Happy summer! Many of us walk barefoot during the summer. While this may seem rather convenient, especially when at the pool or beach, it unfortunately leaves our feet unprotected and vulnerable to potentially stepping on objects that we refer to as foreign bodies. It can be a shard of glass, a piece of metal, or a splinter of wood. Stepping on these common foreign bodies can be very painful, and, in some cases, can lead to infection. Please watch our brief video about foreign bodies in the feet and ways to avoid them:
In our offices, we are fortunate to utilize very modern and advanced imaging to visualize foreign bodies, called fluoroscopy. Through the utilization of fluoroscopy, we are able to localize objects found in the feet by taking multiple images within a matter of seconds to obtain many different angles. This greatly assists our doctors in removing foreign bodies, preventing infection, and helping our patients to be pain free. With the summer upon us, please be sure to protect your feet by wearing some type of footwear, even if you are at the pool or beach. Protecting our feet from foreign bodies is rather easy to accomplish and helps to improve foot hygiene.
Recently, Progressive Foot Care was quoted in the following publications:

- Pinky toes actually have a purpose, it turns out
- How to shop for insoles, according to podiatrists
We all at Progressive Foot Care wish you and your family a pleasant and safe summer. Taking good care of your feet can be your first step towards good health. Remember, your feet are the foundation for your body.
